Cat Ellington, age 49, American songwriter
My dear Lord,
You have finally brought the long-awaited day to pass. You have made my long-awaited dream a reality. And thank You so much.
It was on January 15, 1981, when You filled my mind with wisdom and guided me to write my very first song, “The Baby’s Song, at the age of 10. And I can remember that day being one of the most fun days of my young life. I was only a child of 10 years, but You had put into me the mind of someone much older and gave me instruction along the way. You blessed my hand to write words and melodies that You, and You alone, commanded me to receive. And I opened my mouth wide and waited for You to fill it. You filled both my mouth and my young heart with harmony, and a songwriter was born in me.
As I continued to compose Your words and melodies, the Cat Ellington song catalog came to be an entity in and of itself. And while I had no idea that it would be nearly 40 years before the first song work from the catalog was released, nevertheless, I took joy in the craft that I love so dearly and continued composing every song structure as You saw fit to bestow upon me. And the body of work grew, expanding to several genres, even 24 to date. And it is with a heart, mind, and soul full of humility that I honor You.
The time has finally come for the public at large to be introduced to the Cat Ellington song work, beginning with the first (5) songs from three genres in the 40-year-old catalog: R&B, Jazz, and Heavy Metal, respectively.
Many people who are already familiar with me as a creative writer in literature—hence, my bibliography—will also now become familiar with me as a creative writer/artist in both the music and motion picture industries. And I am so very excited. For the time has finally come. The time has come for the world to know me, Cat Ellington, the songwriter. And the time has come for the world to witness my work as a film casting director. For it is the time that You, Heavenly Father, have chosen. And it is Your will that I strive to do.
As You have trained my mind and spirit to be grateful, that I am. Bless my loved ones and me to never depart from You, but to remember Your word of truth, and blessings, and wisdom, and understanding: for we are, first and foremost, servants of the Most High God.
Lord God, as my husband and I, along with those of our inner (creative) circle, venture into the music and motion picture industries, I pray that You walk before us and strengthen our path with joy, humility, kindness, fairness, peace, love, longsuffering, and grace. For the work that You have commanded us to do in Your holy name is a great work that will be a great blessing to not only our family but also others of Your choosing.
Be with us, Father God, and guide us through the power of the Holy Spirit. Bless us to remain humble and to treat others as we would want them to treat us. Bless us to keep ourselves well and always remember who we are. For the time has finally come. And we will now be sent forth to do Your blessed work in the arts and entertainment industry. It’s time
Father God? Lord Jesus? Glorious Holy Spirit Almighty?
